Art, for me, is more than just a visual experience—it is a transformative force, a bridge between personal introspection and collective connection. My work is deeply inspired by nature and its ability to heal, provide refuge, and evoke a sense of peace. Through my art, I aim to create immersive environments that not only beautify physical spaces but also invite viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves and the world around them.
Growing up in the Dominican Republic, I faced challenges that made nature my sanctuary. It was in the dense greenery of the tropics, the rhythm of the ocean waves, and the stillness of the mountains that I found solace and self-discovery. This relationship with nature became the foundation of my artistic philosophy and the core of my brand, THERE ALONE. The name itself reflects a journey of self-reflection and inner strength, drawing from my personal experiences of solitude as a tool for growth and healing. My work seeks to share this perspective with others, encouraging them to embrace their own moments of solitude and find empowerment within themselves.
Artistic Approach
My creative process is a fusion of traditional and experimental techniques. I work primarily with aerosol spray paint, combined with latex and acrylic, to create layers of organic textures and vivid imagery. This blend of mediums allows me to build depth and movement within my compositions, giving my work a dynamic, almost living quality. I am particularly drawn to bold, natural elements—lush tropical plants, intricate foliage, and fluid, abstract forms—that evoke a sense of freedom and tranquility.
One of the defining characteristics of my work is its ability to adapt to different environments. Whether painting on a large-scale mural, a gallery panel, or a small commission, I approach each piece with the same intent: to create an emotional connection between the viewer and the art. My murals, in particular, are designed to transform spaces, turning walls into portals that transport people into a world of nature and calmness, even within the chaos of urban settings.
I also experiment with non-traditional techniques to push the boundaries of mural art. By incorporating different textures, layering methods, and unconventional tools, I create surfaces that invite viewers to engage with the work in unexpected ways. These techniques help me craft pieces that stand out and leave a lasting impression, reinforcing the idea that art should be an experience rather than just an object.
